Home Remedies For Growing Hair

As a natural process, it is believed that scalp hair increases in length at least by 1 inch every few months, achieving at least a 6-inch hair growth on an annual basis.  However, this can vary from individual to individual, for this process is largely influenced by the individual’s overall health, the amount of nutrition they are getting in, and the kind of stress levels they have to deal with on a daily basis.

To experience hair growth slightly faster than expected, a few simple natural techniques may help.

Methods That Can Be Followed At Home For Growing Hair Faster

Regularly give the scalp a hot oil massage.  By gently massaging the scalp, good blood flow to the area will occur, stimulating the hair follicles present there, resulting in new hair growth and decrease in hair loss.  Oils that can be used for this purpose are coconut oil, almond oil, olive oil, and jojoba oil.

A homemade massage oil can be prepared from blending well castor, jojoba oil and vitamin E.  It is best to pour these ingredients into a bottle and shake to combine them all well.  To this, add a few drops of rosemary and peppermint essential oils and shake again to distribute the oils evenly.  Squirt some amount of this onto the palm and massage into the scalp, concentrating more on those areas that have seen more hair loss or slow hair growth.  Then, wrap the hair in a warm towel for about 20 minutes before washing off with hot water, and then rinsing in cold water.

Apply an egg white mask on scalp hair at monthly intervals to promote good hair growth.  Egg white is a rich source of proteins which is essential for encouraging hair growth.  Break an egg and separate the yolk from white.  Add a few drops of olive oil to the egg white and beat well using a fork.  After one’s regular hair wash, squeeze out excess water from hair, apply this mask and cover hair with a shower cap.  Leave the mask on hair for at least 20 minutes and then rinse it off in cold water.

Eat well and drink plenty of water, for this will work from the inside out to promote good hair growth.  Also, certain food groups seem to encourage hair growth; these are nuts like walnuts and almonds; seafoods like salmon and oysters; lean meats and poultry; eggs; green leafy veggies like spinach, kale, broccoli, etc.

While all of the above will help in making scalp hair to grow fast, it is also important to trim the dead hair ends at regular intervals.  This may sound contradictory, but cutting off just 1/4th inch of hair is essential to get rid of any split ends that will cause breakage, hindering proper hair growth.  Just obtaining lengthy hair is not sufficient; the hair also needs to be kept healthy.

Never run a hairbrush through wet hair, for this will only cause severe hair breakage.  When this happens, it will only defeat the hopes of obtaining long and healthy hair.  Instead, use a wide-toothed comb on wet hair for detangling.
