Home Remedies for Laziness

Laziness is actually a condition of the mind. A lazy person will not be interested in most of the things which go around him; either concerning him or others. The mind of a lazy or lethargic person becomes non-responsive, sluggish, overly relaxed, drowsy, tired, exhausted. He is unwilling to think about anything or does not want to react to any emotions or changes in respect of things or persons around him. This disorder can affect males or females irrespective of the age, location and time. This depleted energy level can be repaired by using a combination of home remedies with an amazing success rate. Let us see how it could be done.

  • Basil leaves: One of the most effective remedies to cure laziness. Pluck 10 to 12 fresh basil leaves, put them in a pot of water and bring the water to boil. Now strain the water and drink it when it cools down a little. (do not drink when it is steaming hot because it could do you harm)
  • Hot bath: A hot water bath can drive away lethargy instantly. One can do bathe at least twice a day.
  • Massage: Body massage obtained from a trained masseur using essential oils and eucalyptus oil will be very helpful in warding off lethargic attitude.
  • Grapefruit Juice: Make it a habit to drink this juice at least once a day. It helps such patients a lot.
  • Tea and Coffee: This is a most commonly accepted way of driving away laziness. These hot drinks make you active at least for one hour.
  • Lime juice: Another remarkable remedy is fresh lime juice. Consuming lime juice every day can help fight lethargic trait.
  • Exercise: Those who are perpetually lethargic should engage themselves in physical exercises. This routine can be of great use to counter lethargy.
  • Posture: Do not be a “couch potato”. Try to walk around instead of sitting in one place for a long time. Take short walks. People who are fond of T.V. get into this habit of being in one place for a long time; this makes them even lazier.
  • Mind: Patients, who are lethargic, become so due to their involvement in the things which do not interest them. Such people should engage in activities which are of interest to them. It is entirely in their hands to decide what they should do. Another advantage in making their own decision is that they would not feel that they have been forced to do it. To that extent, they will be more interested in engaging themselves in that task.
  • Good Food: Food such as fruits, vegetables and whole grains like Millets can make you very active and also improve your body’s water content or hydration percentage. It is also equally important to avoid junk food (or fast food) as it contains ingredients which add fat to your body and if you turn obese by consuming junk food, you become even more lethargic. Cold drinks such as sodas and rich cream milk should be avoided as these can make you feel sleepy.
  • Coriander Seeds: Soak a tablespoon of coriander seeds in a half a glass of water overnight. In the morning as soon as you get up, strain the solution and drink the water. This habit will keep you active all through the day.
  • Sprouts: If you can manage to be on a diet of sprouts for two days in an entire month, it will help you get rid of lethargy easily. Sprouts are good for the digestive health as well.
